Large Size High Pressure Stainless Steel Reaction Kettle for Industrial Use

 

A. Core Definition & Structural Components

 

1.    Definition: Industrial closed reaction equipment with a volume usually ≥5000L, design pressure ≥1MPa (high-pressure models generally at 10MPa grade), main body made of stainless steel, inspected and certified by statutory authorities as a pressure vessel, equipped with explosion-proof / variable-speed motor-driven stirring system. It is used for high-pressure chemical processes such as hydrogenation, polymerization, esterification, etc.

2.    Main Components

·         Kettle Body: Stainless steel 304/316L (316L, duplex steel, Hastelloy available for highly corrosive conditions), thick-wall welded structure, jacket / half-pipe for heating / cooling;

·         Stirring System: Top-entry agitator (paddle / turbine / anchor frame type), mechanical seal / magnetic seal (zero leakage);

·         Drive Unit: Explosion-proof motor + reducer (Ex d IIC T4/T6, ATEX certified), variable frequency speed regulation;

·         Safety Accessories: Safety valve + rupture disc, pressure gauge, temperature sensor, emergency shut-off valve;

·         Inlets & Outlets / Nozzles: Feed, discharge, vent, drain, instrument connections.

D. Selection & Procurement Guidelines (Risk Avoidance)

 

1.    Clarify Process Boundaries: Confirm working pressure / temperature, medium corrosiveness, viscosity, stirring requirements, heating / cooling load;

2.    Certification as a Prerequisite: Must obtain Class A2 pressure vessel manufacturing license, TSG 21 inspection certificate, material test certificate (MTC), weld NDT report; ASME U or CE-PED required for export;

3.    Sealing & Safety: Mechanical seal with silicon carbide / hard alloy mating; magnetic seal suitable for highly toxic / zero-leakage conditions; dual pressure relief (safety valve + rupture disc), interlock shutdown for over-temperature and over-pressure;

4.    Motor & Transmission: Explosion-proof grade matching workshop area, power calculated via torque to avoid overload; hard-tooth surface reducer for long service life;

5.    Insulation & Tracing: Jacket insulation, anti-condensation for low-temperature conditions; tracing required for high-viscosity media.

E. Routine Maintenance & Safe Operation

 

1.    Regularly inspect pressure and temperature instruments, calibrate safety valves (at least once a year);

2.    Maintain stable flushing fluid pressure for mechanical seals to prevent dry grinding;

3.    Strictly prohibit operation beyond temperature and pressure limits, nitrogen purging before startup to prevent combustible gas explosion;

4.    Establish equipment archives to record each maintenance, pressure test and component replacement.
